The Story Behind the Model
The Heinkel He 111 was a German aircraft designed by Siegfried and Walter Günter in the early 1930s It was often described as a "Wolf in sheep's clothing” because it posed as a transport aircraft while actually serving primarily as a fast medium bomber. Featuring 225 mph (262 kg/h) top speeds, MG 15 machine guns and bomb storage, the Heinkel He 111P could easily outgun and outrun most fighters. Its distinctive, extensively glazed, bullet-shaped "greenhouse" nose makes it one of the most recognized German bombers of World War II.
